The Madam Sew, Greens, Cotton Thread Set consists of four thread colors, two spools each, in the green family. Perfect for nature, floral, Easter, Spring and baby or children related fabrics and projects.

The thread is made of 100% long-staple, mercerized cotton. So, you’ll get less lint which means less fuzz building up at your needle and less thread breakage. Because it is cotton thread, it won’t be overly shiny and you’ll also be able to use it for any application where the end project will go in a microwave, like a Bowl Cozy or Potato Sack.

Use this thread if you are looking for a quilt thread that will add depth, texture, dimension and pop to your quilt top then this thread set is a must to try. The 50s/3 thread is made of three plies making it thicker than standard, 2-ply, 50wt threads so it won’t melt into the background. Instead, your quilting will have an opportunity to shine and your project will be strong enough to hold up to repeated washing or wear.

If you sew and want the feel of cotton or a thread that helps your decorative stitches stand out, try this set in your next project. It’s also nice for topstitching too!.

Specifications

Each set consists of eight small cross-wound thread spools of 180 yards each for a total of 1,440 yards of thread in the set.

Colors:

The below picture shows the colors of the thread spools in this set. Please be aware that there may be a little variance from the actual colors based on your monitor or phone.

Weight:

Our thread is a 50s/3 thread, which means there are three plies twisted together to make the thread.

Instructions & More

Use a 90/14 - 100/16 universal needle. We tested this thread with the 90/14 universal sewing machine needle and it worked fine. It’s always best to test on a two piece swatch to see how it sews. If it doesn’t run through smoothly, switch up to a higher needle size.

If you are looking for a comparison between our thread and some other familiar threads, we’ve done a little quilting and sewing comparison for you in the pictures below. We used Guttermann (3-ply), Ours (3-ply) and Aurifil (2-ply) for these.

Guide: 1= Guttermann, 2 = Our Thread, 3 = Aurifil

Learn about thread weights and what different weight threads are used for in quilting by reading our blog: Quilter’s Guide to Thread Weights. You’ll find that weight measurements aren’t that easy to understand and the numbers you see might not help as much as we would like them to.

Amelia T. ★★★★★

I grabbed this set for an Easter quilt and the four green shades blend really nicely with my floral prints. Each spool has 180 yards, so I'm not running out mid-project like I usually do with cheap thread. The colors are soft and natural without looking washed out.

Joshua U. ★★★★★

The two spools of each green shade mean I'm not constantly rethreading mid-quilt, which saves a surprising amount of time. 180 yards per spool goes further than I expected on my spring baby quilt.

Chloe ★★★★★

The spools are a great size for everyday piecing—180 yards each means I’m not restocking mid-project. I’ve already used the sage tone on a baby quilt and the thread glides smoothly through my machine without fraying.
